We have a unique and exciting opportunity at Tekiu to join our programme evaluation team. In this role you will support the Managing Director and you will be responsible for delivering operational and strategic research for project evaluation. With a passion for research and analysis to produce meaningful and insightful recommendations, the ideal candidate will work hard to bring data to life, connect people across disciplinary, sectoral, and international boundaries to enrich knowledge transfer and inform decision-making. Combining a sophisticated understanding of research methods with industry/sector knowledge, the successful candidate will act as project evaluator and guide project stakeholders to deliver productive outcomes.
In this role you will employ a range or research, analysis, and reporting techniques to deliver factual insights in an evaluation-focused, engaging, and cogent way. You will create environments for curiosity-led thinking for all our project stakeholders and clients to promote exchange, reflective dialogue, and informed decision-making.
To be considered for this post, we are looking for you to have experience working in a similar role for a research supplier, research agency or institute, or consulting firm. You will have a strong understanding of the science and innovation landscape and the ability to apply both qualitative and quantitative research techniques to evaluate projects and distil lessons learned throughout all project stages. You will also have facilitation experience; you will be comfortable brokering discussions and creating safe environments conducive to reflective dialogue.
In addition, you are keen to work in an SME environment, coordinating various projects over time, carrying out frequent and iterative data gathering, providing timely results and insight through group and individual follow-ups with quick turn-around times. You will co-lead in the end-to-end management of projects – from proposal writing to debriefing, ensuring that each stage of the project evaluation is completed on time and within budget. Hence, you pay close attention to detail and are very organised, but you can also manage uncertainty and feel comfortable working without all the information. You are also very keen to learn new evaluation approaches and advance your career in research and evaluation.
Key abilities and responsibilities
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate most, if not all of the following experience by providing real-life examples:
An in-depth knowledge of both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. A sound understanding of research techniques for project evaluation gained through a minimum of two years’ experience.
A thorough understanding of appropriate data gathering and analysis software. Experience with survey tools e.g. survey monkey. Advanced numeracy skills and experience with Google Analytics would be considered an advantage.
A sophisticated analytical approach and the ability to critically evaluate ideas and information, select relevant data, identify trends and issues, and provide concise summaries and recommendations.
Excellent interpersonal skills. A minimum of two years’ experience with qualitative (face-to-face and phone) interviews and focus group discussions. Ability to synthesise qualitative data and present ideas and results to stakeholders through relevant and influential insight.
A high level of comfort managing detailed and complex data and creating succinct insight reports and stories for a variety of audiences. Experience with public engagement and / or environmental science will be an advantage.
Personal interest and minimum 2-year experience in at least one of the following: environmental science, public engagement, policy, and innovation.
Experience identifying new business / contract opportunities. A minimum of two years’ experience of proposal / grant writing will be of considerable advantage. A good understanding of appropriate channels to identify project evaluation contract opportunities. Experience working closely with clients on a day-to-day basis, helping to sustain and grow existing relationships.
