DIY Kite Mapping

Do-It-Yourself Kite making and mapping activity: Tekiu’s Citizens Without Borders initiative in collaboration with PLOTS and University College London created kite making and kite mapping workshops in September 2013. Participants built their own delta wing kites out of affordable materials (Tyvec or spun plastic sheets, wooden spars and strong tape) and attached cameras to the kites for DIY aerial photography. The workshops ended with an introduction to the open-source MapKnitter software that can be used to stitch together the photos taken.
